Colorado State Senator Joann Ginal Named AANP 2020 Colorado State Award For Excellence for NP Advocacy!

I am excited to announce that Senator Ginal was named this year's AANP State Award for Excellence!  The Advocate State Award for Excellence is given annually to an individual in each state who has made a significant contribution toward increasing awareness and recognition of NPs.

Over the past few years, Senator Ginal has been a faithful guest at NCNPC's annual legislative meetings, sharing statewide developments of concern to NPs.  As a strong supporter of ensuring access to high quality, cost-effective healthcare to all Coloradoans, she has endeavored to understand the role NPs in healthcare delivery.  Subsequently, she has shown strong support for full, unrestricted practice for APRNs in Colorado.

During the process of the 2020 Sunset Review of the Nurse Practice Act, she made herself available to NCNPC Leadership, advising and guiding us on the legislative process.  The pandemic made the normal legislative process even more challenging this year.  Senator Ginal remained upbeat and steadfast throughout the session!  Her support was instrumental in passing legislation lowering the number of required hours for full prescriptive authority and elimination of the articulated plan for all APRNs in the state further ensuring access to healthcare for our communities.

Thanks,

Senator Ginal!
