Hi everyone, despite summer being in full swing there's no reason that our Lunch & Learn events need to stop! We have two scheduled presentations, both accredited for free Continuing Education and crafted with you in mind. Join us for a single webinar, or register for both! 

Poorly Controlled Diabetes: A Complex Disease State
Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 2 pm ET
Michelle Woods, RN, CDE, MSN-NP, ND, a nurse practitioner for diabetes and adjunct senior lecturer at the University of Tasmania will present her research on the role of the human gut microbiome and its interrelationship with different disease states, specifically diabetes. Objectives to be covered include: (1) Understand the interplay of physiologic factors contributing to poorly controlled diabetes; (2) Apply a comprehensive evidence based approach to the management of patients presenting with poorly controlled diabetes; and (3) Apply antibiotic sparing strategies, as a means of decreasing antibiotic utility, contributing to antibiotic stewardship.

Women & Heart Disease: An Evidence-Based Update
Wednesday, July 25 at 1 pm ET 
Natalie Murphy, PhD, ARNP, FNP-BC, interim associate dean for academic programs and associate teaching professor and coordinator of the Family Nurse Practitioner track at the University of Missouri in St. Louis discusses her current research of cardiovascular health in women. Objectives to be covered include: (1) Summarize the pathophysiology of ischemic heart disease (IHD) in women; (2) Describe both the common and atypical presentations of IHD in women; (3) Explain an appropriate diagnostic approach for evaluating women with IHD; (4) Design a comprehensive treatment plan for women with IHD; and (5) Formulate a pharmacologic treatment plan for women with IHD.
